It is now impossible to consider a new-build or refurbishment project without first considering the energy efficiency of the building and measures to reduce a building’s environmental impact. Much of the time, we refer to the ‘carbon footprint’ of the building with reference to the Energy Performance Certificate. We also refer to the building impact as a whole in terms of sustainability. Heating & Ventilation
Any habitable space or building requires some form of heating and temperature control to enhance comfort. And one cannot refer to heating without speaking of ventilation, too. HCA have experience with all heating systems, from small domestic-sized 20kW gas systems right through to 3MW steam-to-water heat exchanger systems. This variance also applies to ventilation; our design experience ranges from a 4” wall fan through to large packaged air handling units literally the size of a small bus! Surveys
At Hopkins Coats Associates we consider ourselves to be genuine problem-solver engineers and we are always delighted to have the opportunity to survey existing buildings which puts our knowledge and understanding to the test. Like any other product on the market, building services fail. Boilers, circuit breakers and luminaires all have their ‘best before’ date stamped on them and at some point they will require replacement. As some building services can work flawlessly for 30 years, and since the industry is continually improving, it is important to know how services were used historically so that when replacement is due we know what to do. Just as well we have engineers who have 30+ years industry experience.
